During the Vietnam War, we used to hear of the major military airbases such as Bien Hoa airbase, Da Nang airbase, Cam Ranh etc.; however, most of us were unaware that there were a large numbers of other airfields that we haven't heard of their names. And even if someone told us their strange names we would wonder where the heck those airfields were located.
Thanks to many USAF airmen who used to "arm" themselves with cameras, today we are able to get a glimpse of those unknown and well-known military bases (seen from sky) that even many other military personnels never had a chance to put their feet on. To name a few: Cheo Reo, An Thoi, Duc Co, Dakto and Tan Canh.
Thank you, all the USAF photographers for such many great documentary pictures. What's missing in those photos is perhaps the stench of battle field.

We (Vietnamese) used to hear the Vietnam Vets made good compliments about Vietnam as a beautiful country. At that moment we thought perhaps they were impressed by the tropical countryside with vast green paddy fields. Actually, what they saw was quite different from where we have been seeing. Man, most of them saw Vietnam from...the air! No wonder, until you see Vietnam from the airplane. Click on the name list below, you will see Vietnam before 1975 just like what most US Caribou Pilots have seen on their daily missions.
